呵呵，有师兄在William D. Jones手下读Ph.D，下回碰到的时候八一八。
Peter J. Stang对中国人应该还是挺友好的，他带过不少中国学生，好像还是化学所的客座教授，从各方面了解到的情况是他对中国人非常nice。
Donald G. Truhlar感觉对中国人也非常友好，手下中国人也很多，我有朋友投过JACS，他是负责的副主编，尽管审稿人那边给的负面意见偏多，但感觉他好像还是想往前推一推那种，要是换其他的副主编这种情况肯定是直接拒了（或者稍微委婉一点说为了不耽误你的时间，还是建议你投其他的杂志）。
然后了解到的情况是Peidong Yang好像对中国人投的纳米方面的稿子审的特别严，这个版上做纳米的朋友应该非常多，他们知道的可能多点。

记得Peter J. Stang去年来北京化学所作了一个报告，恰好他做的方向跟我博士的课题有点像，做贵金属的超分子自组装，算是见识了一把传说中牛人的风范吧。

因为开会遇到过William D. Jones 几次， 交谈过几次， 他是个非常nice 的人， 非常的 smart,  一般你给他讲一个问题， 一个课题， 他一眼就能够看出问题的关键。 我个人对他非常的佩服！ 在 C-H, C-N, C-C, C－F activation 这些领域， 他应该说是做的较为出色的几个人之一。
William D. Jones 对各国人没有什么偏见， 属于什么都一碗水端平的那种人。 我曾经应该JACS 上有两篇文章几乎类似， 发信去 JACS 主编， 结果是他极其耐心的给我解释了一下 。 呵呵！ 但是他目前没有去过中国大陆， 只去过香港几次做报告。

Stang是化学所的客座，分子科学中心教授，在我印象中已经来过两次了。
有一次在所里报告，开一个影响因子高的双语杂志的玩笑，他说想弄个JACS in Chinese。认为这样JACS的影响因子会大增。

顺便八卦一下，JACS 有这么多Associate Editors, 为什么还要有这个Advisory Board? 这群人是干什么的呢？相当于国内的顾问吗？

看来倒是中国人（或曾经是）自己在窝里斗啊！我们实验室曾经有个搞纳米颗粒的人投JACS，审稿人的意见是没什么创新，可一段时间后，我们那位兄弟发现Younan Xia发的一篇文章中主要思想跟那位兄弟的工作很相似！哈哈！当然不排除想法撞车啊！

看到你的这个例子心里就替我哥们窝火，  我中科院的一个哥们， 投了一片JPC B,  做Pt 粒子合成的， 一个审稿人意见是  this kind of simple thing can not be accepted in the high level journals like JPC B.  Please see some reference, 然后列举了7－8篇 Younan Xia 的文章，  非常明显， 一看就是 Younan Xia 据的稿， 可是四个月后，  一片非常类似的Younan xia 的文章出现在 nano letters 上。    我那哥们说他那个东西 作实验只要一个月， 电镜顶多两个星期。  
看来这家伙有病！！

Its about Yang PD.  I have a friend who visited his lab..  For those who are thinking about postdocing in his lab, you should know this.   It seems that his post docs have two chances.  When you arrive, he gives you one idea, you try to do it.  Fail, he will give you another one.  Fail again, time to go.  Absolutely no mercy.  

Asking about his research, he said, "we are trying to do something interesting and useful".

This advisory board do help  the Journal to be better.  
The editors review a lot of papers from different fields.  They have the right to decide if your paper will be rejected for this first step. If not,  they will run the next step, to distribute your manuscript to 3 or 4 reviewers.  Once the editors get the comments from the reviews, they will send the comments to the correspondence author.  

But the advisory board people have no right to do the same thing as editors.  They provide a lot of suggestions and comments to the editors and also they have some meeting periodically every year.
